How do I get funding for an abortion?
Call DCAF’s free, confidential helpline at 202-452-7464 and leave a voicemail for our case managers. Include your name and phone number, how many weeks pregnant you are, the date of your doctor’s appointment, and whether or not it is okay for us to leave you a voicemail. Due to privacy issues, we cannot assist with funding via email.
A highly trained case manager will return your call shortly. DCAF case managers are skilled listeners who can estimate how much your procedure will cost, and provide detailed financial counseling to assess your financial need and funding options. After a case manager determines that you are eligible for DCAF funds, she can pledge funding assistance accordingly. Abortion costs go up each week you’re pregnant, so the sooner you call, the lower the fees will be.
Who is eligible for DCAF assistance?
- Residents of DC, Maryland and Virginia;
- Women coming to the DC region from outside of the above areas;
- Women who are 9+ weeks into the pregnancy, with priority given to women in the second trimester;
- Exceptions to these requirements will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
