Taking it to the Max returns on 4/24
Mark your calendars for Friday, April 24, because Taking it to the Max is back! This is the fourth year the friends and family of Max Kamin-Cross and the DC Abortion Fund (DCAF) are teaming up for a fundraiser and a loving tribute to Max. Max was a force in the DC community and a major advocate for progressive causes, including abortion access, throughout his life.

It’s been a very tough year for our beautiful city. We’ve been under an illegal occupation for over six months and many of our neighbors have been kidnapped by ICE. It can be hard to feel hopeful when so many in our community are hurting.
But in the face of so much cruelty, we’ve witnessed communities from DC to Minneapolis rally around each other. From ICE watch trainings to grocery delivery to helping kids get to school safely, communities are taking care of each other. That is mutual aid in action and it is what has kept us safe for decades.
Over 30 years ago, DCAF was built on the principles of mutual aid and it is still embedded in everything we do. We ask our community (you!) to invest in each other, fund abortion, and make it possible for people to make a decision for their bodies and their future. It’s a beautiful system built outside of and in response to the systems that harm us.
If Max was here, he would remind us it is time to lean even further into mutual aid and each other. Funding abortion is a tangible way to make a difference in this moment and as we know all too well, the need for abortion funding never stops. So let’s reject that feeling of hopelessness and gather for an evening of music and community!
Join us on Friday, April 24 at Songbyrd Music House to celebrate Max and raise funds for DCAF. We’ll have custom cocktails, local bands, and the return of the best silent auction in the DC region, full of items from our favorite local businesses.
We hope to see you for another year of hope, renewal, and funding abortion!
